GH | Prototypical Parametric Tower

Research on parametric methodologies that combine euclidean, affine and morph transformations in geometries in order to explore opportunities and variations of flexible algorithms in grasshopper.

Digital Crafts

Typical workflow to design a tower in grasshopper:

  1.  Repeat curves every “a” distance
  2. Apply euclidean and affine transformations (rotate “b” and scale “c”)
  3. Loft curves
  4. Subdivide surface and transform elements by “d” factor
  5. Transform into a mesh
  6. Offset “e” + Relax mesh

Euclidean transformations: Translation, Rotation and Reflection

Affine transformations: Scaling, Shearing and Projections

Morph: Topological transformations

On the other hand, the parametric model is transformed to a mesh and basic subdivision methodologies are explored so as to increase the level of complexity.
